Stepping into mindfulness by becoming acutely aware of your environment and fully feeling the present moment reduces stress.

Stress is the number one cause of recorded sick leave reasons in the work environment and the main cause of illness. It can literally kill you.

In order to eliminate stresses you first need to be aware of your body and where you’re storing the stress. This causes blocked energy pockets in the body which can turn to physical ailments causing discomfort or pain.

I remember a couple of years ago I was feeling this consistent lower back discomfort that I couldn’t release. I knew that it was blocked energy so I started doing a 10 minute morning yoga routine and within days my pain was gone and it hasn’t returned as I keep up with the yoga practice.

Breathing is also really important. To stop doing what you’re doing and becoming conscious of dropping your shoulders and taking some deep belly breaths slowly in and out 5 or 6 times fully feeling the breath with each inhalation and exhalation. This recalibrates the body to give you a mini overhaul which will help you get back to your tasks with mindful presence.
